Dyslexia

In 2004, I began travelling to the Hindman Settlement School, in Hindman, Kentucky. Long a source of education for the people of rural eastern Kentucky, Hindman began, in 1980, to serve children and adults with dyslexia. As a woman whose life has been shaped by my own experience with dyslexia, I couldn't resist the opportunity to travel to this school and document the joys and struggles of the students, their families, and their teachers.
